More than 150 passengers were evacuated off the flight
A BACKPACK has been blown up after a passenger heard another traveller talking about a bomb while on an easyJet flight destined for the UK.
A passenger reportedly heard someone speaking about a “bomb” on the U23246 flight from Ljubljana, Slovenia to the Stansted airport in London with the flight making an emergency landing at Cologne airport overnight, airlive said.
Three male passengers have since been detained by police.
Federal police were called in, Bild has confirmed, with authorities rushing onto the aircraft once the 151 passengers had been evacuated on Saturday afternoon.
A backpack was reportedly blown up outside the aircraft.
A spokesman for the police in Cologne told BILD: “We take the situation very seriously, but can not confirm that there was a concrete terror suspicion.”
An easyJet spokesperson told The Sun Online: “easyJet can confirm that flight EZY3246 from Ljubljana to London Stansted diverted to Cologne today.
“The Captain took the decision as a precaution to enable the aircraft to go through additional security checks in Cologne where the aircraft was met by the police.”
